Kombucha at the Office: Storage, Labels and Team Choice
A better-stocked fridge—not a productivity promise
Kombucha can add another flavour to an office fridge. It does not need to be presented as a cure for the afternoon slump, a focus aid or a way to reduce sick days. The useful work is more ordinary: keep it cold, label it clearly, respect preferences and avoid ordering more than people want.
Start with voluntary interest
Ask a simple question: would anyone like to try a tangy, fizzy tea-based drink? An optional tasting is a better starting point than automatically allocating a bottle to every employee.
Do not ask colleagues to disclose pregnancy, medication, recovery from alcohol dependence or medical conditions. Provide product information privately accessible to everyone and let people decline without explanation. Check the workplace’s alcohol policy before introducing a fermented beverage that may contain alcohol.
Keep plain water available. A separate caffeine-free, unfermented option avoids making kombucha the only alternative to coffee or alcohol at a celebration.
Make the fridge plan before the purchase
Use a refrigerator that reliably meets the product’s storage instructions. Check its actual temperature rather than assuming the dial setting proves it is cold enough. An air-conditioned room, reception desk or cupboard does not count as cold storage.
Assign a person to receive the bottles and put them away promptly. Leave enough shelf space without blocking airflow, keep bottles upright and organise them by their labelled dates. Check that the fridge will remain powered over weekends and holidays.
The WHO Five Keys to Safer Food includes safe temperatures and cleanliness. For your team, that means an explicit handover plan, clean serving equipment and a way to flag storage problems—not simply a “help yourself” sign.
Our storage guide covers questions about transport and uncertain handling. If there is a power failure or a bottle is left warm, follow producer guidance rather than treating rechilling as a reset.
Keep the original labels available
Do not decant every bottle into an unlabelled dispenser. Retain ingredients, batch details, dates and serving instructions, especially when several flavours are offered.
A useful shelf note might read:
Optional kombucha: fermented tea, unpasteurised, contains sugar and may contain caffeine and alcohol. Check the bottle label. Keep refrigerated. Please do not shake.
The US TTB kombucha guidance explains that alcohol may change through continued fermentation. It does not classify Scoby Doo under Indian law or establish a measured alcohol value. Do not relabel the drink “zero alcohol”.
Similarly, the MedlinePlus caffeine guide explains that caffeine affects people differently. Tea-based kombucha should not be described as a caffeine-free late-shift option. Use the label-reading guide to separate known information from assumptions.
Trial quantities and budgeting
Count interested participants and consider a small tasting pour in individual clean glasses. Choose a modest first order, then review actual demand and waste. A team-size formula cannot predict how many people will enjoy the drink.
Scoby Doo’s listed MRP is ₹220 per 275 ml bottle. Original Booch and Apple Pop are listed as available at the September 2026 review. Ginger Zinger and Guava Chilli are on hiatus; Tropical Pine is seasonal. Check the current catalogue before selecting.
Use the contact page to start a WhatsApp enquiry. Confirm stock, your office address, charges, the final total and possible timing. Amravati, Nagpur, Wardha and Akola are listed regions, but every address needs confirmation. Do not budget around an assumed subscription, discount or delivery schedule.
Judge the trial on practical outcomes
Ask whether people enjoyed the flavour, whether receiving and storing it was manageable, and whether bottles went unused. Keep opening dates clear where relevant and follow the producer’s after-opening instructions.
Taste feedback, cost and avoidable waste are useful measures. Individual health tracking, productivity scores and absence comparisons are not justified by putting kombucha in the fridge.
Quick answers
Does office kombucha improve productivity?
We have no evidence that stocking Scoby Doo improves productivity, focus or sick-day rates. Treat it as an optional beverage choice, not a workplace performance intervention.
Can we keep kombucha on desks or a meeting-room table?
Store bottles according to their refrigeration instructions and bring them out for serving rather than leaving them out all day. Air conditioning is not a substitute for a refrigerator.
What should an office check before ordering?
Check voluntary interest, dietary preferences, workplace policy, fridge space and who will receive the order. Then use WhatsApp to confirm stock, your address, delivery charges, the final total and possible timing.
